Instructors at Extra Innings


Extra Innings offers individualized, year round professional baseball and softball instruction. Our staff uses a uniform step-by-step teaching system to encourage positive progress with all our students.

The Extra Innings staff features former and current professional players, college all-stars, and area college and high school coaches.

Zack Zuercher

Pilgrim HS (’02)
University of Rhode Island (’05)
St. Louis Cardinals (9th round, 2005)


Zack starred at Pilgrim during his high school days, earning the Division I-South Player of the Year award in 2002 and leading the Patriots to the state title series at McCoy Stadium. He started his college career at the University of North Carolina before transferring to the University of Rhode Island in 2003 and exploding to stardom, setting program records for victories, strikeouts and innings pitched while leading the Rams to the NCAA Tournament in 2004. Zack was drafted in the 9th round by the St. Louis Cardinals organization following his junior season and finished up the 2008 season with their Double-A affiliate in Springfield, MO. Zack spent the 2009 season with the Worcester Tornadoes of the Can-Am League. Zack will be available for 1-on-1 or group pitching lessons and will be an instructor at Extra Innings’ pitching clinics. Tip Fairchild

Tip Fairchild, is from Monmouth, Maine. He attended Monmouth Academy where he was the MVC player of the year in 2002. He then moved onto the University of Southern Maine where he was an All-American for Ed Flaherty's Huskies. He was drafted by the Houston Astros Organization in the 12th round of the 2005 player draft. Early in his career he was labeled as a top-prospect with Houston and invited to work personally with Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens at Houston's Elite Camps over the course of the winter and prior to spring training. Jim Connell


Rhode Island College

LaSalle Academy Asst. Coach




Jim followed his All-Division year in 2004 at LaSalle Academy at Rhode Island College where he was a 4-year starter as a first baseman.  Jim was named 2nd team All Little East Conference as a Freshman.   Jim’s intensity and work ethic bring a business-like approach to the teams and players that he coaches, and maintains the competitiveness that is necessary for youth athletes to be successful. By mixing instruction with discipline and fun, Connell has quickly become one of EI – Warwick’s most requested instructors.

 

Dan Tucker – Extra Innings Instructor

University of Rhode Island (’06)


Dan was a two-time All-State selection and a four-year starter behind the plate at Pilgrim, becoming the first freshman in more than a decade to be selected to the Patriots’ varsity roster. A superb defensive catcher and solid hitter, Dan continued his career at the University of Rhode Island and was a member of the 2003 Rams’ team that made the program’s first appearance at the Atlantic-10 Baseball Championships in 19 years. He will lead Extra Innings’ catching clinics and is available for 1-on-1 or group hitting and catching lessons..

 

Kevin Gormley

University of Connecticut
Head Coach North Kingstown HS


Kevin recently completed his eighth season as North Kingstown’s varsity baseball coach and has led the Skippers to three division championships (2005, 2007 and 2008) and a pair of runner-up finishes (2005, 2006) in Division I of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League. North Kingstown has never won less than 11 league games in any season with Kevin in charge and his program has produced a steady stream of college talent, including three Division I signees (Dave D’Errico, Cody Normand and Ryan Morris) in the Skippers’ 2009 senior class. He was a two-way star at Connecticut as a left-handed pitcher and first baseman and will be available for 1-on-1 or group hitting lessons as well as heading up Extra Innings’ hitting clinic schedule.

 

Pete Clays

Assistant Coach, North Kingstown HS

Pete has operated behind the scenes as Kevin Gormley’s assistant coach throughout his tenure at North Kingstown, serving as the program’s assistant coach for over a decade. Pete works primarily with North Kingstown’s hitters and infielders, laying the foundation for a team that annually has one of the best offenses in Rhode Island. He is a teacher in the North Kingstown school system and helps operate several youth baseball summer camps in North Kingstown. Pete will be available for 1-on-1 or group hitting lessons and will assist with Extra Innings’ hitting clinics. .

 
Lindsay Cavanagh

Lindsay Zuercher

Pilgrim HS (’03)
Community College of Rhode Island (’05)


Lindsay was the Gatorade Player of the Year during her senior year at Pilgrim, helping the Patriots to their first fast-pitch state championship in program history as the state’s best defensive first baseman and Pilgrim’s premier hitter. She rewrote the record books during her time at CCRI, twice earning All-Region XXI honors, and was named an NJCAA All-American in 2005 after finishing 12th in the nation with a .494 batting average. Lindsay will lead the softball programs and team sales at Extra Innings and is available for 1-on-1 or group hitting lessons.

 

Maria Morin


Head Softball Coach – Rhode Island College


Extra Innings – Warwick is pleased to announce the addition of RIC Softball Head Coach Maria Morin to the staff for 2009-2010. Over the last 10 years Morin has helped place the Anchorwoman program among the nation’s elite. Over her 15-year career at RIC, Morin has compiled a win-loss record of 377-213-4. Morin and her team are currently riding a 4-year streak as Little East Tournament Champions, and a 5-year streak as Little East Regular Season Champions. Three times Morin has been named Little East Coach of the Year, as well as being named the New England Region Coach of the year by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association in 2007. Maria will be available for individual and group lessons, by appointment only. Be sure to book your appointment soon!

 

Erin Fuoroli

Pilgrim HS (’03)
Keene State College (’07)
Pitching Coach – Wheaton College


Erin was a standout on the diamond in both high school and college, pitching Pilgrim to its first fast-pitch title in program history in 2003 and helping Keene State to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances during her college career. She was Rhode Island’s top pitcher with the Patriots as a senior, earning All-State honors, was All-Little East Conference with the Owls in 2006 and served as Keene State’s captain in 2007. Erin will be available for 1-on-1 or group pitching and hitting lessons and will assist with Extra Innings’ softball clinic schedule.
