    Sean was a Pilgrim Graduate in 2009, as a member of the varsity team for 3 years he was named an all-star all 3 years and two-time All Division Pitcher for the Patriots. After high school Sean took the field for the CCRI Knights for 2 years and was a two-time NJCAA All-Region selection. Sophomore year Furney finished with a 1.32 ERA in 47.2 innings pitched, he finished No.9 nationally on the individual pitching list and as the No.3 strikeout leader with 72 strikeouts and 1.51 k’s per inning. He also joined several CCRI all-time record lists including No.7 single season strikeouts, No.18 in single season ERA, No.11 in career strikeouts, and No.6 in career ERA. Furney then went on to be a two year starter for Jim Foster at the University of Rhode Island where he had a combined 14-4 record and a career 2.25 ERA and was a two-time All Conference selection as well as All New England first team selection. Senior year Furney earned National Pitcher of the Week honors in early April after a combined 0.75 ERA and .167 opposing average over 14 innings against #9 Florida State and #8 Ole Miss. Furney then was named Rawlings National Pitcher of the week when facing the minimum of 27 batters in a complete game one hit shut out vs the University of Dayton. To finish of the year Furney posted a 1.98 ERA and struck out 82 in 99 innings pitched with a record tying 16 strikeouts in one game and went on to win Atlantic 10 pitcher of the year. Furney is now a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks minor league system where he finished rookie ball with a 2.25 ERA and recorded a league leading 64 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched. Sean will be available for 1-on-1 or group pitching lessons and will help with Extra Innings Pitching clinics all off season.
